![]() A character who consistently heals for 7 is better than one who heals for 15 one moment and 3 the next. Or at least, not a reliable one.Ī big part of Darkest Dungeon is minimizing the RNG to avoid extremely bad situations, and the Occultist just makes it worse. Originally posted by Unferð:You do realise that the occultist is a healer too, don't you? It's really too bad, dude is really strong. That alone makes it a bad class at high levels and in lengthier dungeons, where you pretty much need a healer. Being, of course, that you can't use Vestals with it, so a group with an Abomination has no healer. There is, of course, one gigantic problem with it. He can self-heal and self-stress-heal with a single move, he can Stun any of the three first enemy positions (and still do decent damage while doing it), and once transformed he does better damage than any other class. I'll gladly take an Abomination over any of those classes. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed trinkets for him. and he only has a single good ranged attack, which is only usable from position 1 against position 1. Problem is, his itemization don't favor his melee attacks it takes some very specifc, non-Highwayman rare items to make a proper melee-specced Highwayman. I view her as being slightly worse than the Arbalest, and again, I don't have a very high opinion of Arbalests. Getting people off of Death's Door and removing DoTs is nice, but ultimately you only have 4 ability slots and she can't Blight everywhere, Stun everywhere and heal with just 4 active abilities. and perhaps worst of all, there's an extra chance to miss you have to hit with the attack and then have the DoT not be resisted, which often requires wasting a trinket slot that another class could have dedicated to doing more damage, and can still happen even then. DoTs are freakishly weak since they don't do more damage than direct attacks despite the fact that they take multiple rounds to do their damage and don't benefit from crits. Plague Doctors, as much as I want to like them, don't seem all that strong to me either. I thought he was on the same level as the Jester, perhaps even worse, and I don't have a high opinion of Jesters. Oh, is the Crusader good now? I haven't been using them because everything they do seem to be pretty bad ordinary-strength attacks that can't reach, weak healing, weak stress healing. Used at the right times, the abomination can be really useful and effective. Don't take a team that's only good at bleed attacks into the Cove where nearly everything has higher than average bleed resist, for example. The opposite is ture, you can fail if the group composition does not work well against certain enemies. I think each class has a purpose, and if you play them in certain groups, or in specific ways, then you can find success with each. I have a hard time saying that any given class in this game is the best or worst, so I can't really comment on where I'd rank the abomination. The class restriction can be annoying at times, but I've got enough heroes that it's not hard to pick something else that'll work just fine with the abominations. I've had success with two of them running in a group with a variety of other classes. Once I got used to how well they can function in certain groups, I began to see how strong they can be. The first few times I used an abomination in a group I wasn't impressed. I can't think of anymore reasons, but I rank Abom the second worst hero (Jester being the absolute worst). ![]() If I want stuns and blight, then I'll just take a PD Obvious one is restricting my favourite healer and second favourite hero, Crusader. Crusader, PD, Hellion, and HM and are the strongest heroes in-game. I doubt that, but that's just my opinion. Originally posted by Solo Death: he's one of the strongest classes in the game.
